Privacy Policy

GateKeep ("GateKeep," "we," "us," or "our") builds a tool that connects to your Gmail account to identify cold outreach and block it before it reaches your inbox. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. This is our beta-stage policy and will be updated as the product develops beyond private beta.

1. Information we collect

Waitlist information. When you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you submit through our signup form. That submission is processed by our form provider, Formspree, and delivered to us for the sole purpose of contacting you about early access.

Gmail account data. If and when you connect your Gmail account (available once you're granted access), we request permission, via Google's OAuth consent flow, to read your sent mail history and metadata about incoming messages. We use this data to:

  • Build a whitelist of senders you've previously emailed, so they can always reach you.
  • Evaluate incoming messages from senders not on your whitelist against the rules you configure.
  • Apply the filtering action you've chosen (e.g., hold, label, or block) to messages that don't meet your criteria.

We request the minimum level of Gmail access needed to provide this functionality, and we do not request access to compose or send email on your behalf unless a future feature explicitly requires it and you separately consent to it.

Usage and device information. Like most websites, our site and app may automatically log basic technical information, such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, to help us operate and secure the service.

2. How we use your information

  • To operate, maintain, and improve GateKeep's filtering functionality.
  • To communicate with you about your waitlist status, beta access, and product updates.
  • To monitor for abuse, fraud, or security issues affecting the service.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information or your Gmail data. We do not use your email content to serve advertising.

3. Google user data & limited use

GateKeep's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use Gmail data to provide and improve the sender-filtering features described to you, and we do not use it to serve ads or transfer it for unrelated purposes.

4. Sharing your information

We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. Vendors who help us operate the service, such as our hosting provider and our waitlist form provider (Formspree), under obligations to protect your data.
  • Legal requirements. If required to comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, or governmental request.
  • Business transfers. If GateKeep is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the commitments in this policy.

5. Data retention

We retain waitlist email addresses until you ask us to delete them or until the waitlist is closed and processed. If you connect a Gmail account, we retain the whitelist and rule data associated with your account for as long as your account remains active, and we delete it within a reasonable period after you disconnect Gmail or delete your account.

6. Your choices & rights

  • You can ask us to remove your email from the waitlist at any time.
  • You can revoke GateKeep's access to your Gmail account at any time from your Google Account permissions page, which immediately stops any further data access.
  • You can request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Contact us and we'll do our best to honor applicable requests.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

GateKeep is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as GateKeep evolves, particularly as we move from private beta toward general availability. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to notify waitlist members and connected users.
