Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of GateKeep's website, waitlist, and beta software (together, the "Service"), operated by GateKeep ("GateKeep," "we," "us," or "our"). By joining the waitlist, connecting your Gmail account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service is in private beta

GateKeep is currently offered as a private beta. Features, availability, and performance may change without notice, and the Service is provided on an invite basis at our discretion. We may pause, limit, or discontinue beta access at any time.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. When you connect a Gmail account, you're responsible for maintaining the security of that account and for all activity that occurs through your use of GateKeep in connection with it.

3. What GateKeep does

GateKeep connects to your Gmail account, with your authorization, to build a whitelist from your sent-mail history and apply filtering rules you configure to incoming messages from senders not on that list. You control the rules, and you can disconnect your Gmail account at any time.

GateKeep is a filtering aid, not a guarantee. We do not promise that all unwanted email will be caught, or that no legitimate email will ever be filtered. You're responsible for reviewing your filtering rules and any held or blocked messages.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to GateKeep's systems, other users' accounts, or data you're not authorized to access.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except as permitted by law.
  • Use the Service to interfere with, disrupt, or place undue burden on our infrastructure or that of our providers, including Google.
  • Misrepresent your identity or your authorization to connect a given Gmail account.

5. Google account connection

Connecting Gmail requires you to grant GateKeep permissions through Google's OAuth consent flow. Your use of Gmail through GateKeep remains subject to Google's own terms of service. GateKeep's access to and use of information received from Google APIs is described in our Privacy Policy and adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

6. The waitlist

Submitting your email to the waitlist does not guarantee access to the Service. We may grant beta invitations in any order, at any pace, and to any subset of the waitlist, at our sole discretion.

7. Intellectual property

GateKeep and its licensors own all right, title, and interest in the Service, including its software, design, and branding. These Terms don't grant you any rights to GateKeep's trademarks or branding except as necessary to use the Service as intended.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Because this is a beta product, you should expect bugs, downtime, and incomplete features.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GateKeep will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including any email that is incorrectly filtered, blocked, or delivered.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and disconnect your Gmail account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, including if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves, particularly as we move from private beta toward general availability. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and material changes will be communicated on a best-effort basis to waitlist members and connected users. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which GateKeep operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
